Faculty of Law, University of Delhi
From the Desk of Professor-In-Charge, CLC
It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the website of Campus Law Centre, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi.
Campus Law Centre occupies a distinguished place in the history of legal education in India. Over the years, it has established itself as an institution of high academic standing and professional credibility, known for its rigorous training, rich intellectual tradition, and enduring contribution to the legal profession. The Centre has been associated with the education and formation of generations of advocates, judges, legislators, civil servants, academicians, and public leaders who have contributed significantly to the administration of justice and the strengthening of democratic institutions in the country.
The study of law at Campus Law Centre is guided by a broad and serious educational vision. Legal education is not confined to the acquisition of technical knowledge alone. It is also concerned with cultivating disciplined legal reasoning, fidelity to constitutional values, ethical responsibility, and sensitivity to the social context in which law operates. In a society governed by the rule of law, legal education must prepare students not merely for careers, but for informed and responsible participation in public life. It must equip them to understand the relationship between law and justice, rights and duties, institutions and accountability.
Campus Law Centre has consistently sought to uphold this vision. Its academic culture encourages intellectual seriousness, analytical precision, and meaningful engagement with legal and constitutional questions. Through classroom teaching, case analysis, mooting, legal aid, research, writing, and participation in various academic and co-curricular forums, students are trained to develop both professional competence and a deeper understanding of the role of law in society. The objective is to produce legal professionals who are not only well prepared in doctrine and procedure, but also guided by integrity, fairness, and a sense of public duty.
The contribution of Campus Law Centre to the legal profession has been both substantial and enduring. Its alumni have served with distinction across the Bar, the Bench, public institutions, academia, and policy making. The Centre has thus contributed not only to the profession in the narrow sense, but also to the larger legal and constitutional life of the nation. It has helped sustain a tradition of legal practice and public service in which professional excellence is joined with institutional commitment and social purpose.
